Interview: Belle Histoire

Belle Histoire sure is making a name for themselves these past few months. If you can’t already tell they’re going somewhere. Playing festivals and going on nationwide tours are just a few things that the future holds for them. I (Jon) finally got a chance to catch up with the band and see them play a small coffee shop gig. I highly recommend seeing them live if you get the chance. Enjoy, and remember: Everything Will Be Alright.

SSP: How are you guys today?
Belle Histoire: Great! [Cheers]

How did the I Can Tell EP go with the fans?
Aaron: I feel like we had a really good response from it. It was definitely a bit of a change from our original EP. I think the transition was just us maturing as a band. We brought some more rock elements into our sound which is something we all really enjoy. We got a lot of good feedback from our fans, friends, family and our label. It’s been really fun.

Any updates on the finished album on Invogue?
Wes: We have finished tracking our full length album on Invogue Records. Aaron and Joe are going up north to mix and master the album with a guy named Jacob Rye. Joe Dunlap is one of the producers of our album. It’s going really well. We’re going to jam it until everyone else can jam it. Then were going to jam together and it’s going to be sweet. It’s going to be released hopefully June or late July.

Do you feel there is any change in the new album from the first two EPs?
Mitch: The difference between our first EP and the second EP is that there is definitely a major change as far as us being a little more upbeat with our music and a little more with us being on the indie-pop side. The album more or less follows the style of the I Can Tell EP. It’s a little more indie-pop-rock and a little more mainstream. Period.

If you could describe your band with a song style or band what or who would it be?
Jane: Fun. That is literally what we write music for. We write music to make ourselves feel better about life, to make the people who listen to our music feel better about life, and to make people realize that its okau to have fun and that life sucks. You can listen to music while multi-tasking and you can have fun. That’s about it. I don’t think we sound like Fun. by any means, but they are amazing. I just mean the feel of writing happy music. Fun music and Beyonce. [Laughs]

What drives you guys to do what you do?
Austin: I think I can speak for all of us when I say it’s really the life-experience. It’s the daily things we go through that really drives the heart of a song. We all have different influences and that just puts the icing on top.
